Champagne and Reefer

This is one of my favorite  Muddy Mississippi Waters performances.

It starts with Muddy sounding all stoned saying "all right, OK, we goin', roll it."

A few dirty guitar de-dah-da rifs, and Muddy bellowing  "Yeah, bring me champagne when I'm thirsty, Bring me reefer when I want to get high."

After a verse about setting his woman right down there by his side if he gets lonely, Mr. Morganfield rightly states, "well you know it shouldn't be no law if people that want to smoke a little dope."

Well, you know it's good for your health, and it'll relax your body, don't you know.

Well now, I'm going to get high. I'm going to get high just as sure as my name.  Well you know I'm gonna get so high this morning it's going to be a crying shame.

Well you know I'm gonna stick with my reefer, I ain't going to be messing around with no cocaine.

As a side note, however,  I've neglected to have worn any vests yet this year, I'm sorry to report.
